Overview

The Master of Arts in Art Education option is a 32-hour program blending online courses with intensive studio experiences designed to strengthen the development of certified art teachers and allow them to engage in professional development and graduate studies. The program meets for one week during the summer at the EIU campus for the studio art components of the degree. This program is designed to allow the practicing art teacher to complete a degree in two years. The art education option does not lead to teacher licensure. Benefits of this online program include the following:

  1. The online courses allow you the opportunity to continue to work as a professional and earn the MA in Art, Art Education Option.
  2. You are not limited by geographic proximity to EIU.
  3. The tuition costs for taking EIU online courses are the same for residents and non-residents of the State of Illinois.
  4. Studio courses are designed as one week of immersive work at EIU followed by independent work at home.
