Overview

Anthropology is the holistic study of humanity: all people, all times, all places.  Anthropologists use their knowledge to solve human problems, and to understand the human story and condition.

The goals of the Anthropology minor are to:

  • Provide students with an understanding of anthropology's four main subfields: archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and linguistic anthropology.
  • Analyze the central theories and methodologies of anthropology.
  • Train students in anthropological research methods, including the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data, participant observation, interviewing, and ethnographic and technical writing.
  • Assist students in the development of critical thinking and communication skills.
